Al’s Pals
Al’s Pals is a comprehensive curriculum and teacher training program that develops social-emotional skills, self-control, problem-solving abilities, and healthy decision-making in children ages 3-8 years old. Contact our partnering agency for more information. Alternatives, Inc. at 757-833-2330.
Strengthening Families Programs
A whole family skills training program that significantly improves parenting skills and family relationships, reduce problem behaviors, delinquency and preventing alcohol and drug abuse. We offer a 10 week session that target families with children 9-17 years old and a 7 week session that targets families with children 10-14 years old.
ACE Interface/Resilience Training
ACEs are potentially traumatic events that can have negative, lasting effects on health and well-being. ACEs increases awareness of the significant behavioral, emotional and physical outcomes of childhood trauma.
Rise Above
Rise Above is a trauma-informed, social-emotional learning, and substance misuse prevention program based on current scientific evidence about adverse childhood experiences and positive youth development. Our lessons aim to support youth to enhance life skills and adaptive self-control while promoting healthy relationships, effective communication skills, and mutual respect. We serve 4th-12th grade students in small groups. Classes are conducted over 20 sessions lasting 45 minutes each.
Mental Health First Aid Adult/Youth (MHFA)
TMHFA is an 8 hour course designed to teach citizens methods of assisting someone who may be in the early stages of developing a mental/emotional health problem or in a mental health crisis.
Youth Leadership Activities
Empower youth to fight drug use, underage drinking, tobacco use and other problems plaguing their communities. Facilitate youth skills to analyze and influence their communities in a positive way, to create social change.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
ASIST is an intensive, interactive, and practice-dominated course designed to help caregivers recognize and review risk, and intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.
